This week's acquisitions

Sophie from Virago was kind enough to send me a little package of books on Tuesday, cheering up my first week of February. Memento Mori (Spark) is Virago's latest addition to their Modern Classics list and matches the other Muriel Sparks that they have been bringing out over the last year or so. Having enjoyed My Antonia so much, I asked if she had any spare books by Cather, and I was rewarded not only with a copy of O Pioneers, but Hermione Lee's biography of Cather. I've already had a flip through the biography and it looks hugely interesting.

  1. I just loved O Pioneers! (maybe more than My Antonia) and have flipped through Lee's bio at the library. It does look very interesting. I also read Memento Mori a couple of years ago and liked it, but didn't love it. Will be curious to see what you think.

  2. I loved Memento Mori - good to see Virago have added it to their Modern Classics. Will have to look out for the biography of Cather, once you've had a chance to review it(?)

  3. As you know I also received a copy of Memento Mori and can't wait to read it! I'm also looking forward to reading more of your thoughts about Willa Cather.

  4. JoAnn - I am looking forward to O Pioneers.

Jeanne - it is good that Virago are republishing Muriel Spark.

Claire - maybe you can guest review it for me as I've already read it!

  5. Verity - I hope that you enjoy these. THere is an excellent biography of Muriel Spark if you are interested.... Hannah
