Some new acquisitons

Just before Christmas, I was lucky enough to acquire three more VMCs for my collection. The first two, Precious bane and Peyton Place, were 40% off in the closing down sale at Borders - I've heard good things about both of these - I think they could be considered Classic Virago Modern Classics if there is such a thing. The enchanted April was kindly sent to me by Virago following a conversation on twitter (do follow both @ViragoBooks and myself @verityjdo if you are on twitter). I will probably save that to read in April for obvious reasons...

When I returned from my holiday, I was lucky enough to discover a parcel waiting for me from a friend from librarything - Maren had kindly sent me these two lovely VMCs (including one of the exotic dialpress editions)
So, an ready to continue my VVV in 2010!

  1. I loved Precious Bane - it's a completely original novel. I bought some Bronte titles at the Borders sale - first time I've seen the shop packed - and felt so sad that it was closing.

  2. Yes- I've heard many good things about it!

  3. I do love dropping in every now and then so see how you are doing with this marvellous venture though it makes me realise that I have not read as many Green Viragos as I thought! Enchanted April is one of my all time favourite books and I was lucky enough to track down the very first Virago edition of it with a lovely cover and it is read every year for sheer pleasure and joy.

  4. Thanks Elaine - it is indeed good fun and I keep stumbling acorss ones that I've never heard of. Not surprising with 550 of them to get through!
